HARKIN AND DEAN...OUR NEW HEROES?
As Howard Dean's poll numbers and political future continues to swirl down the drain...conservatives might have found
their two new liberal heros...Dean and Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. Harkin was the primary figure in the Paul Wellstone "memorial"....that
out of control liberal hate orgy that many think propelled Norm Coleman to victory in that Minnesota Senate race and thus
Republicans to victory in the Senate in 02.
And so there was Harkin, by Dean's side, in that post Iowa display that might just go down in history as one of the worst
ever political moments for any candidate.
By God, by whatever means...we need to keep Harkin front and center. That might be hard to do though...since he hitched
his wagon to a train heading down hill fast....that of Dr. Dean-vorkian.

EARLY NH PREDIX
In New Hampshire polls, completed BEFORE Iowa...John Edwards is a very distant fourth with only 8%. Look for Edwards
to AT LEAST TRIPLE that figure in the final Primary results and to roll with that momentum to South Carolina. The first POST
IOWA poll for NH comes out late Tuesday night from Zogby...we'll see if I look any good on that. I hope I don't.
DEBATE REAL BIG: One thing for sure, rarely has there been an election where the televised debate is so important as
the Thursday debate will be for these candidates and voters. And the funny thing is, Brit Hume of Fox will be moderator. About
three times as smart and ten times as conservative as Jim Lehrer...this should be great.
DEAN GETS COVERAGE: Tried to watch ESPN today and de-compress from politics for a few hours before the State of the Union..but
for crying out loud, all of the ESPN afternoon shows manged to work the Dean "pep rally" into their formats. The good Doctor
is even catching it on the sports channels.

I WISH WE WEREN'T THAT ACCURATE
This site has been predicting a surge by John Edwards for a while now...and unfortunately...we were "more Wright" that
we had hoped. Do not be surprised to see this guy win the nomination. He will capture New Hampshire's undecideds (they really
like southern accents) and do at least respectably there...and he will win SC...and be hard to stop after that....all on the
elect-ability and excitement issue.
Never mind he couldn't win re elction in NC for Senate. I doubt his White House strategy even includes winning NC for
the Dems.
WHO ARE ALL THES REGULAR FOLKS?
All of the candidates on the Dem side have really been playing up the "working people" thing in the last couple of days..with
the war strategy not doing so well. Right.
John Edwards: made 50 million suing companies out of business and destroying God knows how many working peoples' careers.
John Kerry: selling his fine art to fund his campaign.
Richard Gephardt: owner of one of the largest homes on the Outer Banks and who knows how much of St. Louis.
Just a bunch of reglar fellas........
DEDICATED EMPLOYEES? As a thought...all of this glorification of the "American worker." Does this mean the union thug
looking for a reason to strike with "Take this Job and Shove It" blaring on his car stereo?
NOT ORIGINAL: Sounded like a "workers of the world unite" theme last night...listening to John Effen, John cutie and
Little Dick. Folks, that's been used before...by economies that NO LONGER EXIST. Take a hint.

LEAVE NO LIE BEHIND....
John Kerry gets the early "Gall in victory" award for his comments on the Prez last night. With Ted Kennedy having just
introduced Kerry and standing not ten feet away...Kerry immediately slams Bush by saying "he's turned his back on schools
and teachers across the nation...making a mockery of 'leave no child behind.'"
Kerry didn't mention that it was TED KENNEDY who wrote Bush's education bill and that almost every liberal nightmare
for education was included and funded at extremely high rates.
MEMO TO BUSH AND KARL ROVE: the NEW TONE is NOT WORKING. Repeat. The NEW TONE is NOT WORKING. I promise you, all of this
new tone mess and trying to get along with the Dems will COST BUSH THE ELECTION. Just watch.
Trying to get along with these people is just as fruitless as trying to get along with Al Queda. They DON'T WANT to get
along. Period.

HAWKEYE CAUCI WINNERS, LOSERS...
OBVIOUS BIG LOSERS: Little Dick Gephardt, Dr. Dean. WINNERS: John Effen Kerry and John Edwards...and AS PREDICTED BY
THIS BLOG...John Edwards is the one to watch out for. Some less obvious notations:
BIG LOSER: Iowa Senator Tom Harkin...who shamelessly jumped on the Dean bandwagon just in time to see it crash and burn.
It was Harkin, you might remember, who organized that disasterous funeral-pep rally for Paul Wellstone that might have well
cost the Democrats the Senate. Republicans need to keep Harkin involved in Democrat politics.
ORGANIZE ORGANIZE: So the Gephardt and Dean camps had the best organizations. Great. Looks like they shuttled a hell
of a lot of Kerry and Edwards folks to the caucuses.
MEDIA: For all this hoopla, consider: George HW Bush and Michael Dukakis each finished FOURTH in Iowa in 88...but both
won their respective nominations.
LABOR UNIONS: the backbone of the Gephardt Campaign. Nuff said.
WES CLARK: Now they're coming at you Wes and all of the stupid stuff you've said lately. Kerry and Edwards will be formidable
coming at you....without the need to go so hard at Dean. I think Wes might fade badly in New Hampshire...Edwards will go strong
to SC regardless of New Hampshire...and Kerry and Dean will try to eliminate each other...since neither of them can afford
a stumble in that geographic region.
KARL ROVE: The Bush consultant who is the most over rated consultant ever. Kerry or Edwards will be tougher than Dean
to beat.
POL'S EGOS: For all the hoopla politicians give their own endorsements...they mean NUHTHING! Look at Dean's big 18 per
cent...down from twice that BEFORE all of the endorsements...Mr. Gore, Mr. Harkin, Carol Mostly Brown, etc etc etc.
BIG WINNER: Des Moines Register Newspaper. Their endorsement seemed to light a fire under the Edwards campaign. Imagine...a
newspaper endoresment meaning something. Oh yeah, it was a Democrat intramural battle. Media opinions don't count much among
Republicans.

MLK....REALLY A CONSERVATIVE
You wouldn't know it by listening to the leftist who have co-opted his name and his cause...but Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. was really a conservative. HUH? Consider his defining concept and statement:
"I have a dream....that one day....men will be judged not on the color of their skin....but on the content of their character...."
Now tell me, where is one single shred of liberalism in that statement? Does that sound like Affirmative Action? Of course
not...it is a true conservative principle....to be judged simply on the merits...not counted as an AA quota.
And further...how can any student or worker who gets their job through affirmative action EVER be judged simply on their
own merits in that environment? The answer is...THEY CAN'T.
But you will never hear any of MLK's family or race pimp industry hangers-on admit to any of that.

JUST A COMMON MAN OF THE PEOPLE...
Senator John Effen Kerry, strapped for campaign cash, has decided to sell and mortgage some of his artwork...those painted
by the great masters...that he has hanging around his various homes and villas. Right. Just a regular fella.

MARINO INSPIRED BY CLARK, DEAN?
Dan Marino, recently appointed General Manger of the Miami Dolphins, has been taking lessons from Democrats Howard Dean
and Wes Clark. The former QB great has hedged his bets on picking the NFC title game...picing the Eagles to win on the HBO
"Inside the NFL" show but picking the Panthers on the CBS Studio show broadcast.
Hey Dan, if the Dolphins gig doesn't work out...there's always Iowa and New Hampshire in a few years.............

AUNT JEHMIMAH!
If the aliens have been watching this planet for the past week, they've no doubt come to the conclusion that there
is a definite link between flipping pancakes and running the one super power. What a ridiculous spectacle, to decide who will
be in the running for President based on flipping flap jacks all over two weird states for three weeks. Why, even Wes Clark,
who is flipping only in New Hampshire while the others are flipping in Iowa, got TV coverage.
God help whoever calls'em pancakes in flapjack territory...or hot cakes in pancake territory. What a joke. Wasn't it
Jefferson who said the biggest threat to Democracy was an ignorant electorate? Time to roll over, Thomas.
Of course, if John Kerry ever got his hair spray and his PAM mixed up, it would be kinda funny.
BRECK CHARGE: Again, AS PREDICTED BY THIS BLOG many days ago...John Edwards is surging and could win Iowa...as he is
among four that are statistcially tied with a day to go. His organization is not as strong as the others for Dean, Kerry and
Gephardt, are in Iowa...but just to have roughly the same percentage of supporters will be a huge boost for him. Like I said,
he will do well with undecideds....cause they have known the other three for months and are still undecided. Edwards is a
new face.
And he will do well in S.C. regardless of New Hampshire...but a good Iowa showing will almost guarantee he'll do well
in NH. (even without Carol Mostly Brown's endorsement).
